Have
You Considered Using An E-Mail Newsletter To Keep In-touch
With Your Clients And Prospects?
One
very effective Internet marketing strategy is to develop
a monthly e-newsletter that you can send to your past
and potential clients. An e-newsletter can be effective
at building ongoing relationships, promoting repeat
sales and encouraging referrals. Some of
you are probably using the corporate issued newsletter,
if not follow these tips to help you develop your own.
First
Step
The first item to consider when
developing an e-newsletter marketing strategy is your
email database. You have an email database right? If
you don’t it’s time to start building one. I don’t recommend
you use Outlook. Invest in a commercial email marketing
system.
No Spamming
Ask all your current clients for
their e-mail address and for permission to send them
your e-newsletters. Sending your e-newsletter to people
with no interest in your services will likely result
in your e-newsletter being viewed as spam. This is a
waste of time and effort, and your email address could
even get black listed. This can damage your image
and cause you to lose business.
How
To Collect E-mail Addresses?
An effective way to develop your email
database is to implement a strategy to encourage people
to sign-up to receive information from you. In internet
marketing terms it’s commonly known as an “opt-in” email
list. This could include a “sign-up for our newsletter”
form at your website. Holding an offline or online contest
has also proven to be effective. Offering some kind
of FREE report in exchange for emails has also been
proven to be effective.
What
to put in your newsletter?
The content of your e-newsletter
should focus on information that will add value to people’s
lives. Keeping direct advertising to a minimum is ideal,
but it is acceptable to use subtle advertising techniques
to promote your products or services. Topics like home improvement,
gardening, industry news and financial issues have mass
appeal.
Cost
E-newsletters are one of the most cost-effective ways to stay in constant contact with your customers and prospects. For under $50.00 a month you can develop an email newsletter program that can develop into an effective marketing tool.
