6 Secrets To Help You Fill The Room With Qualified Prospects At Your Next Seminar
Prospecting for clients by running seminars can be a very effective way to attract qualified prospects. However to sponsor a successful seminar you should take the time to plan it very carefully.
These six tips will help you put on a more successful seminar.
Secret #1 – Select a topic that is hot or current
When choosing your topic look for current issues or problems that are being discussed frequently in the media. Give people information that they will be interested in, not what you want to promote. Resist the temptation to focus on selling or talking about specific products.
Secret #2 –Target a specific group
Don’t try to invite everyone and anyone. As part
of your planning you need to develop a specific profile
of who you want to attend. Do you have a quality list
of people (including current clients) you can market
your seminar to? Design your marketing materials to
speak directly to the issues and interests of your target
market. Target marketing will help fill more seats than
shot-gun marketing.
Secret #3 – Location, location, location
Try to use a location that is well known, easy to find, with convenient free parking. A location where people will feel safe and comfortable. Hotels are the obvious, choice, but how about colleges or universities or halls of non-profit organizations.
Secret #4 – Marketing, Marketing, Marketing
Seminars are like products and it’s pretty hard to sell a product today without marketing. Remember you are in competition for people’s time and attention. You need to have multiple ways to market and promote your seminar, so make sure you develop a marketing plan. Track what works and what doesn’t so you’ll know which marketing activities are giving you the best return for your investment.
Secret #5 – Promotional lead time
One of the most common reasons for low attendance is not allowing enough time for marketing and promotions. A rule of thumb is to launch your marketing 4-6 weeks before your seminar date.
Secret #6 – Offer FREE gifts or bonuses
To encourage people to register early, offer a free gift or bonus to prospects who register before a certain date. Look for bonuses that relate to your seminar topic. Ask other businesses that are interested in reaching your target market if they would be willing to donate a prize in return for some promotion at your seminar.
