I’m often asked, “how do I get my site to show up on “Page One” of Google?”
There is no quick or simple answer to this question. There are just too many factors that affect where you show up in the search engine.

Google makes frequent updates to it’s search engine algorithm. So what you do to help you rank high today, could be all for not in two months. It’s a full-time job to keep up with the changes Google makes.

There are over 1500 agents in the city and Google only offers 1-15 spots on ‘Page One”. A search on Google for the “keyword” Winnipeg real estate will bring up over 3 million hits so you can see how big a challenge it is to be included in the 1-15 spots on “page One”

There are some basic behind the scene things that I’ve done to optimize your site for better position on Google’s search engine.

For example:

1. Using keywords in your pages content
2 Using keywords in headlines
3. Using keywords and titles
4. Including multiple Winnipeg related links to enhance local search
5. Tagging some of your images on your site with keywords and phrases
6. Including blog pages with real estate information
7. Added a site map to your site
8. I avoided using a lot of flash because it’s not search engine friendly
9. Made your site “mobile friendly” (most of you)
10. Pinging your website periodically to get Google’s attention

There is the option to pay Google (Google Ad words) to get visitors to your site, but this can get really expensive. And research shows about 70-80% of people ignore paid ads.

So what should you be doing?

Here are some recommendations:

1. Make sure your contact information is included in all free online real estate and small business directories.

2. Use all the free social media tools to promote the offers on your site.

Example: your Free Home Evaluation, your Free automatic listing notification program or your free downloadable e-book. You should be posting links on your social media sites to these offers at lease once a week.

When you post images on your social media sites, put your website address on them. Post helpful, informative information.

3. Talk about your website offers when you meet potential clients at open houses
and in public.

4. Create videos and post them on YouTube.

5. Write articles about Winnipeg real estate issues and I will post them on your site

6. Ask people for their email addresses and their permission to send them your email newsletter.

7. Form partnerships with other complementary service providers, do joint venture marketing. If they have newsletters you could promote your website in their newsletter and theirs in yours.

I Understand these suggestions will take a lot of time and effort to execute, but this is what it takes today to get the most value from your website. There just isn’t any marketing silver bullet to help you grow your real estate business. You will need multiple marketing strategies and tactics to keep your business growing.

I encourage you to contact me if you have questions about the issues I’ve raised in this article.
